Partial power loss usually means one circuit or one RCD has tripped. If the switch resets and stays on, the fault may have been a one-off from an appliance. If it trips again or won't reset, there's a fault that needs finding.

Why has only half my house lost power?
Many homes have two RCDs, each protecting a group of circuits. If one trips, part of the house goes off.
Can I reset it myself?
You can try once. If it trips again straight away, leave it off and book.
Could it be an appliance?
Often. A faulty kettle, washing machine or outdoor appliance is a common cause.
How much is an emergency call-out?
The call-out price is shown when you book. It covers an electrician attending, making the installation safe and finding the fault. Any repair is priced and agreed with you before work starts.
Is it safe to use the rest of the house?
Usually, if nothing is hot, smoking or wet. If you're unsure, switch off at the main switch.
